Abigail's Jewel Box

About

My sister and I have been in the jewelry business forever. Our father was a jeweler!

I have been selling and making jewelry as long as I can remember.

Ages ago… before moving to this location… we were fortunate enough to acquire a Collection of Victorian jewelry made by famed Providence, Rhode Island designer and jeweler, Antonio Tomassi. In the late 1800’s, Mr. Tomassi waved goodbye to his family in Italy and embarked on a journey to America where he continued his family tradition of designing and making hand made jewelry.
This wonderful – never worn collection of handmade Victorian jewelry – is available in our store. It is all the legacy of an old man’s dream… and a little girl that never was… all part of a real life fairy tale that began over a century ago.

In the late 1800’s, women of the day were gifted with finely crafted, hand worked jewelry, whose delicate beauty symbolized feminity and whose rich Old World detail typified gracious Southern charm. At the turn of the century Mr. Tomassi decided to leave a legacy of his handmade jewelry for a granddaughter who, in his mind, would be named Abigail. Thus the Abigail Collection and Abigail’s Jewel Box!

Naturally, over the years we have expanded this collection to include estate jewelry, filigree engagement rings, diamond rings, art deco and retro-moderne jewelry that has been carefully chosen for its detail representing bygone eras. These pieces have been deliberately chosen, cleaned and refurbished so that each piece is a distinguished representation of its time period. This carefully curated and thoughtfully chosen collection comes from our heart to yours, as an opportunity to preserve jewelry from yesteryear.

Further, I make jewelry. Bring me a photo, an idea, a dream and I will create a lasting piece of jewelry just for you.

We also purchase gold, gold coins and silver and offer appraisals for any purpose.

Our store is located in the Antiques District of Putnam, Connecticut, also known as the “Quiet Corner” as we are very close to Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Boston and Hartford are a pretty hour’s drive and Providence is approximately 45 minutes away. We are open Thursday-Saturday 11-5:30 and Sunday 11-5.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
